Hi everyone…
I am so pleased with all the hits I’ve been getting on this website. Thank you! I had nearly 200 in one day. And thank you to those who have already purchased your raffle tickets online. Your tickets have been processed and you are in the raffle for the prizes you’ve chosen.
I’d like to hear what everyone thinks of the baskets and if you plan on attending the fundraiser, purchasing tickets, etc. We are planning a great day on November 7 with great entertainment, great refreshments, great prizes, and of course, it’s all for a great cause.
I receive periodic updates on people we’ve met through our journey who are still going through their ordeal. We’ve been blessed beyond measure that the toughest part of our ordeal is over and Emily is healthy and “normal”. Words cannot describe the pain of a parent watching their child endure many medical procedures, receive toxic medicine into their little bodies, hospital days confined in their rooms for days, weeks, months, etc. The parents of these children face horrendous fear on a daily basis waiting on every test results and not knowing the outcome of their child’s disease.
Your contribution to EHH goes DIRECTLY to families at Rainbow who have children with a life-threatening disease. 100% of the money I raise goes to Rainbow and through the Emily’s Hopeful Holiday Fund, they will continue to assist families with their bills and alleviate at least a little bit of stress in their lives.
I know times are tough for EVERYONE…but imagine having a child with a life-threatening illness and enduring these tough economic times.

Because I have decided to do an actual fundraising event now in addition to my cyber raffle, dates are changing…so sorry for the confusion but I want to make the most out of this fundraiser for Rainbow. Once I get everything finalized, I will post the information.
For those of you who are asking to donate baskets to my event, thank you. Ideas for themed baskets include: lottery basket, margarita basket, Italian basket, or anything you can creatively come up with. Going in with others is a good way to make the basket valuable without tapping too much into your own pockets!
I’m getting very excited about our Open House which is now in the works. I will have more home show consultants this year, local entertainment, refreshements as well as all the wonderful baskets I am raffling off.

All the Baskets for Raffle will be available via Cyberspace/U.S. Mail. There will be a variety of themed baskets for you to select from on my blog. Review the baskets (View Baskets for Raffle page) and determine which baskets you are interested in (all baskets will have an identifying number). Purchase your tickets online on this blog (2009 Basket Raffle Ticket Purchase page). Be sure to specify how you want your raffle tickets distributed among the baskets using the form provided on the above-mentioned page and enclose this information with your check, or, if paying by paypal, include this information on the paypal form, under the “add special instructions to seller” in the item total area, please remember to include your phone number. Please see the “Please Read: Instructions for Basket Raffle” page for all instructions and form to include with your check.
Once I receive your information, I will then process your tickets and you will be entered into the drawing. It’s just that simple! You get a chance to win fabulous baskets and we raise money for the families at Rainbow!
Last year, we raffled 36 baskets, many of the baskets were valued between $100-$400. We have had a tremendous amount of support throughout the community and beyond and between the raffle and individual/corporate donations, we raise $7,000 for the families at Rainbow last year.
Please check out this blog for more information on Emily’s Hopeful Holiday, its history, and why we began this fund.
Kindly share this information with your friends, families and co-workers to help me get the word out about this opportunity to help us raise money for families whose children are battling a life-threatening disease and in financial need. This online raffle is open to EVERYONE so share this information with your friends from other states.
Mark your calendar: Raffle begins/baskets will be displayed on my blog between October 24, 2009 through November 6, 2009. Drawing to be held on November 7, 2009 at our EHH Open House. Winners will be notified by phone on November 7, 2009.
Lastly, if your company/employer is looking for a philanthropic cause to support this holiday season and would like to make a monetary donation to EHH, please contact me via the CONTACT ME page and I will provide you with our tax id number. I am still accepting donations for baskets as well; please contact me if you are interested in donating.
As always, we thank everyone for their generosity to EHH. Without your support, we could not assist the families in need at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.
Being a mother of a child who is now a cancer survivor, it’s not only the money these families receive that helps them through their journey, but the thought that someone cares about them during their child’s illness and their family crisis. Our family was beyond blessed by so many people while Emily endured her treatments. We know how it felt when others cared for us. We want them to feel the same…

For those businesses considering donating to EHH, check out the Sponsors page and see that you will be in very good company when you donate. The response from the community and surrounding areas has been tremendous. Know that your donation will turn into dollars for families at Rainbow. We couldn’t assist these families without the support of our community and surrounding businesses.
Monetary donations also appreciated. Know that 100% of your monetary donation will go to the families at Rainbow. Contact me for our tax i.d. number for your corporate or personal donation. Make check payable to Emily’s Hopeful Holiday/RAINBOW and mail it to 1048 Coopers Run, Amherst, OH 44001.

Here is how the EHH fund works:
Emily’s Hopeful Holiday (“EHH”) is a fund through Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, OH. Once the money has been raised, it is given to someone at Rainbow who oversees the fund. A social worker at Rainbow then distributes the money accordingly to families who are in desperate need of financial assistance. The money is used to pay their essential bills such as rent, utilities, etc. The money is sent directly to the entity that they owe money to and therefore, alleviates the bill entirely. 100% of the money that is donated goes to this fund and, in turn, goes to paying the bills for these families. We do not advertise this fund at Rainbow because there is not enough money to help everyone…only those in desperate financial need. The more money that is donated, the more families we can help.
